The age-old question – does Fiesta in the Park open at 10am or noon on Sunday?

Well, we can finally answer that with 100% certainty. Starting this November, Fiesta in the Park will officially open from 10am-5pm on both Saturday and Sunday of the event weekend. In the past, we have had a soft opening on Sunday morning of 10am, where some artists and vendors opened up, but the official start time was noon and that’s how it’s always been promoted through the years. Everyone has been a bit confused from vendors to sponsors to attendees, so we’re clearing it up once and for all.

Spring Surprise

The 27th Annual Spring Fiesta in the Park is full of surprises. After 26 years, we are integrating a beer and burger garden in the southeast corner of the park for the first time ever (the grassy area otherwise known for its weekly Sunday Farmers’ Market). We tried it out at November’s Fall Fiesta in the Park, and it was highly successful, bringing more families out to the area for picnicking and games, while raising the level of food vendors participating in the event. This continues with our plan of creating specialty areas within the event that patrons can get excited about.

New Developments for the Fiesta in the Park Series

While the Fiesta in the Park event series has been around for 45 years, our committee is always working on ways to improve it and its efforts to be a true partner in the local community.
Over the past couple of years, we’ve committed to giving back to the City of Orlando’s Community Youth Trust Fund with a required donation after each event. If we reach our revenue goals, the Committee adds an additional percentage to the bottom line donation, which we did after the Spring Show for the first time.

The Future of Orlando

This year’s Fall Fiesta in the Park will be its 45th installment. Almost half a century of time has passed since the first one was held back in November, 1970. Over four and a half decades later, Orlando has changed dramatically. From the days of Disney World opening in 1971 to the glory years of Church Street Station in the ‘70s and ‘80s, to the mega suburban growth that continues today and our own Downtown’s resurgence, there are so many stories to tell along the way that have contributed to the success and makeover of our beautiful city’s landscape.
What is your favorite moment living in Central Florida? Was it the Orlando Magic starting off as an expansion franchise in 1989? Maybe the total resurgence of our downtown area, including local park renovations, new high-rises and businesses along with a state-of-the-art performing arts center to boot? Was it the crazy baseball-sized hail storm in 1992? Okay – obviously if you were here for that, it isn’t your favorite moment, but looking back it was quite spectacular and an important time in our history. We can go on and on and would love to read your thoughts in the comment section below.
With that said, there is still more work to do and growth to come. This city is rising as quickly as any other in the nation, and is a budding community for healthcare, technology and education. It’s an exciting time to be an Orlandoan, and we’re happy to have many of you attend our events every year. In the coming years, expect more green space in the downtown area, more innovation on urban planning, and some really cool amenities like the new soccer stadium and even more events on a regular basis.

Spring into Change

Best of Show Winner: Leland Williams, Oil Pastel

Spring has sprung and another successful Spring Fiesta in the Park has come and gone. We were honored to have presenting sponsor Southern Ford Dealers and co-sponsor Bright House Networks back for a 9th consecutive year! Spring Fiesta welcomed a few new sponsors, too – Strayer University and Solar Ray, who had so much positive feedback from attendees they are both planning on participating in Fall Fiesta in November.
Also new to Fiesta in the Park was Pet Fiesta. Local radio station, 98.9 WMMO brought the music and the people brought their pets! Guests were able to bring their furry family members to a designated area just for them! While the entire event is pet friendly, Pet Fiesta offered up services like pet blessings, afterlife pet care, and pet adoption and rescue. We’re excited to make it bigger and better in November for Fall Fiesta!
In its 26-year history, Spring Fiesta in the Park has seen many changes, but this year brought on a significant change for our artists and crafters. The Fiesta in the Park Committee felt that it was time to transition into a flat fee for participation in place of the old booth fee + percentage of sales. Although the flat fee was met with resistance from some long-time participants, our judges saw great improvement all the way around. This seemingly minor modification had a huge impact making things run much smoother on the backend, leaving little room for accounting errors. This year’s Spring Fiesta even attracted new artists while keeping the same “Fiesta flavor,” one judge said. Fiesta in the Park is the only arts and crafts show that hosts a variety of fine arts as well as unique items like homemade candles and spices.
The Fiesta in the Park Committee is constantly working to bring innovation and improvement to Fiesta, and promises to always keep that “Fiesta flavor.” Thank you to our participants, sponsors and volunteers who make it possible for us to produce this wonderful Orlando event. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating the 45th anniversary of Fall Fiesta in the Park November 7th and 8th!
